The Corowa Whisky and Chocolate Factory, owned by the same family, is now pumping out hand sanitiser to meet soaring demand amid the coronavirus crisis, with some of the product for sale in Junee.
Corowa Whisky and Chocolate Factory managing director Dean Druce said the company had diversified into hand sanitiser since COVID-19 public health orders had forced the closure of cafes and functions.
Mr Druce said he had rolled out hand sanitiser production to help protect more people from the spread of the virus and save jobs since their cafe closed and eight weddings were cancelled.
The Junee Licorice and Chocolate Factory has also been forced to close its restaurant and coffee shop just two weeks before Easter.
Following recent cuts to red tape, hand sanitiser can now be made without approval or notification to the Therapeutic Goods Administration, so long as producers follow World Health Organisation recipes.
Stock is selling out quickly at Junee, with the product only available for pick-up due to postage regulations.
Those wishing to buy the hand sanitiser in Junee can order online from their webstite at shop.greengroveorganics.com.au.
