The eight-year-old has won five of his seven races to date, but they've been spread out over the past 26 months.
After making a winning debut as a four-year-old in April 2016 Gold Starzzz has been plagued by injuries but Harris always wanted to persevere.
"I think he has some ability but I just enjoy working with him," Harris said.
"He's a trainable horse.
"He's easy to get along with and is just a lovely animal and that's why I gave him another opportunity."
The latest, a double digital flexor tendon issue, saw him sidelined for 18 months but Harris was pleased with his performance as he brought up a hat-trick of wins at Riverina Paceway last month.
Sitting off his rivals, Gold Starzzz charged away to set a new career best mile rate of 1:56.6 with his 7.7 metre win.
Harris expects he will meet much tougher competition this time around in the Hillis Motor Group Pace (1740m).
"He will go ok," he said.
"I'm not sure whether he can keep winning but it was nice he won the other day.
"There is a bit of satisfaction but because of his bad legs he doesn't get overly worked.
"I went into the race two weeks ago not knowing a hell of a lot, I was only 75 per cent.
"I like to be 100 per cent and I knew he would be competitive but didn't know if he had enough work to win.
"He had a pretty good run and he still hasn't had much work since but has that run under his belt.
"He did that reasonably easy but is stepping up in class but it's a pretty tidy field."
Harris isn't worried about the back line draw, something his other runner on the 10-race card Endless has to contend with as well.
Coming off a third, the Junee horseman is hoping to get a similar effort from the mare.
Wagga, and all other harness racing venues across the state, will race without the public.
Government restrictions have even seen a cap of 100 people allowed into the stabling area at any one time.
