Rowe became the first man to bring up three figures in a Wagga Cricket grand final in eight years as he blasted his way to 156 at McPherson Oval on Saturday.
But unlike Ethan Bartlett's unbeaten 112 in 2012, it wasn't enough to down Wagga City as the Cats chased down the Blues total of 9-267 with seven wickets and just over two overs to spare.
Last year's premiership success ended a horror streak for South Wagga, who had lost four of the last five Wagga Cricket grand finals.
However the Cats came back to haunt the Blues again as they struggled to make inroads as Josh Thompson (102) and Ben Turner (55) combined for an 127-run opening stand.
Captain Joel Robinson was left to rue another grand final defeat.
"They rode their luck, came out hard and played their shots and it came off," Robinson said.
"Full credit as they definitely changed up their game plan from a couple of weeks ago and earlier on in the year.
"It was a really good game of cricket and they were just too good for us."
Rowe and Brayden Ambler (49) put on 124 however Robinson was disappointed with how the middle order failed to capitalise on a great start.
"(Rowe's innings) was as good as you will see in a granny and he and Spud (Ambler) batted really well," he said. "We probably needed a bit of a partnership late.
"We finished off well, but just missed out through the middle, but you'd still take 267 on day one in a granny."
South Wagga went into the season as favourites and only lost one match in the regular season before Wagga City proved too strong for them twice in the finals.
Robinson is confident the club will be back.
"Obviously it is a failure in a sense as you play all year to win at the end of the year but some positives out of it are young Blakey Harper - he was outstanding all year and was able to play at the back end of the year - and we were able to get games into young Jakey Scott, and I think he is going to have a massive future for the club.
"The result didn't happen, and it is going to hurt us, but we will definitely be back."
