After also finishing runner-up in the first three races of the series behind Hillston's Claudia Taylor, Hamblin again had to settle for second best with Albury's Julia Hargreave prevailing by 51 seconds.
With Taylor finishing just outside of the top five who score points in sixth, Hamblin's four points allowed her to take a one-point overall lead before the final races of the series at West Wyalong in a fortnight.
Wagga Triathlon Club's Scott Donaldson won the men's race by 57 seconds over Liam Willcox to extend his series lead to three points over Willcox.
Hamblin is a noted strong runner but was pleased with her 16km cycle leg on the hilly course, which also featured a 1.2km run, 200m swim and another 3.5km run.
She said she never expected to win the overall series title, but will give it her best shot in the last event.
"It never really crossed my mind (I could win) to be honest," Hamblin said.
"It (run of seconds) isn't frustrating, I'm happy with how I'm going and happy to be right up there with a good group of girls.
"Claudia today probably wasn't used to having hills where she's from, it's all very close.
"I'll probably need a bit more training over the next two weeks to pull it (West Wyalong Triathlon) out, but that's the plan at the moment.
"It should be a good event if it's still on, hopefully it doesn't get cancelled."
The West Wyalong triathlon will be held on Sunday, March 29, with the men's and women's series winners to both win $1000.
