The eight-year-old was ridden by apprentice Tyler Schiller and held off a host a late flyers, including Craig Widdison's Banger, to post victory by less than half a length.
"It was good for the team," Sweeney said.
"It was a good, tough win for the horse.
"It was a pretty even race and once he dropped down in the weights under the minimum, it helped a lot.
"We drew a good barrier (five) and it made a difference.
"He went forward and (David) Hayes' horse (Royal Thunder) came across from a bad barrier and sat outside him, but he was just too tough for them at the finish."
Albury trainer Mitch Beer claimed race four with Bezos, while Wodonga's Stephen Aldridge took out the first with Liberty Power breaking its maiden.
