After taking out the first women's tackle title last year, Riverina face Illawarra South Coast in the first round of the new season.
There was been plenty of player turnover, and a couple of late injury concerns, but coach Dean Whymark is pleased with how the side comes into this year's campaign.
"We've had a fairly tough pre-season build up," Whymark said. "We've lost a few players from last year with some moving away and some unavailable so we started with a fresh bunch of players.
"It's been good to see some new girls come through and we've trained really well."
Riverina has scored trial wins over GSR Tigers and Victoria in the lead up.
However they've lost Bailey Porter (anterior cruciate ligament) and Natasha Clemson (broken ankle) while NSW State of Origin player Lelei Katoa leads the list of outs.
Lauretta Leao-Seve, Madeleine Warburton and Kate Pevere also won't take part in this year's campaign but Whymark believes some new faces including Jane McLennan, Chloe Muggleton and Emily Poole have brought plenty of enthusiasm to the group despite a lack of experience in rugby league.
"The girls are positive, are in a good headspace and the enthusiasm of the new girls is really amazing," Whymark said.
"Even though we have had a lot of changeover in the playing ranks hopefully we can put our best foot forward on the weekend."
Riverina tackle the Dragons at 12.50pm.
It is the third of four representative games with the Andrew Johns Cup clash to kick off at 10am.
