Tackling Wagga RSL in their first finals appearance in three seasons, the club is looking to extend their strong two-day form at Wagga Cricket Ground this weekend.
After their top-of-the-table clash with South Wagga was abandoned after they failed to cover the Geoff Lawson Oval pitch last round, Saints dropped to third with the 10-point penalty but it is the only time they've fallen short in the longer format.
Garness believes it is a style that suits against the Bulldogs.
"The last time we played them in a two-dayer we outrighted them," Garness said.
"I know they got the wood on us in the two limited overs games but we haven't lost a two-dayer all season."
The 25-year-old has spent six seasons with the club over the past decade but hasn't won a final with them since the 2013-14 season.
Garness wasn't part of their run to the grand final in 2016 before they crashed out after successive losses the following season and haven't been back to finals since.
He's hoping to help turn at around, especially after his best season with the ball.
"It's good for a change to get a few (wickets) but I don't think I've taken too many since Christmas," Garness said.
"I'm really happy with how I'm bowling but moreso that we're back playing finals.
"It just goes to show the group we have got this year are very competitive and there is a really good vibe around the place."
Saints head into the clash with their strongest line up available.
Garness has led the bowling attack all season, with 29 wickets at 14.2 the best in the competition, while captain Beck Frostick finished at the leading runscorer, with 618 at 61.8.
Saints have been up and down since the Christmas break but Frostick has backed the side to extend their two-day form despite missing another clash.
"We found a bit of momentum in the two-day/one-day game against Colts and played probably some of our best cricket there," Frostick said.
"We've had a break but have been busy netting on grass to prepare ourselves so there will be no excuses come Saturday."
Frostick is looking for plenty of consistent performers to help keep their season alive.
