A traditional "topping out" ceremony was held on Wednesday, marking the completion of the fifth and highest level with the signing of a steel beam and placement of a tree on the roof.
This new building, due to open in 2021, adjoins the 50-bed mental health unit that was completed under stage one of the redevelopment and the main Wagga Base Hospital building constructed during stage two.
The building will house additional acute aged care inpatient beds and rehabilitation inpatient beds, an older person's mental health inpatient unit with an additional eight beds and the hospital in the home service.
There will also be a renal dialysis unit , oral health service and ambulatory, primary and community care clinic rooms, including prosthetic, orthotics, mental health and drug and alcohol outpatient services, as well as a staff administration hub and new education area, including library, conference rooms and lecture theatre.
