Corowa trainer Geoff Duryea's News Girl is the highest-rated horse in the 23 nominations received on Monday, with the final 14-horse field to be determined when nominations close on Thursday morning.
However Duryea confirmed last week he will nominate and accept the mare into the $150,000 race, but the barrier draw would determine whether she races at Albury or Caulfield on Saturday.
Albury trainer Mitchell Beer's Perfect Illusion is the second-highest rated horse after a strong second to Logan River on his home track on February 4.
Rock 'n' Roller (benchmark rating 63) currently holds the 16th and final spot in the field, but trainer Wayne Carroll is unsure whether he will race after pulling up with a problem after racing at Canberra on January 24.
If he withdraws it could open the door for Beer duo Bezos and Cardinet, or Spackman's Jaytee's The Fox, all of whom have a 62 rating.
Trevor Sutherland is the highest represented Riverina trainer with two likely runners in Azaryah and Real Key.
