Opposition leader Jodi McKay said the focus of the Tumut meeting would be bushfire recovery and drought relief.
"Labor decided to hold the February 11 meeting in Tumut, down here in the Riverina after an invitation from Snowy Valleys Council Mayor James Hayes," Ms McKay said.
"Local Government bodies like the Snowy Valleys Council are the beating heart of so many regional communities.
"They are our partner in working to hold government accountable for bushfire recovery and drought response. Like us they want the best for places like Tumut here in regional NSW."
Cr Hayes said it was important that senior government figures "come down and have a look" at the bushfire damage to communities and industries in Snowy Valleys.
"To that end I have asked the NSW government and the Australian government to hold cabinet meetings in Tumut," he said.
"I'm a true believer in seeing is believing and the best way to see it is as a group so everybody sees the same thing".
Wagga MP Joe McGirr said he would like to see the NSW government hold a cabinet meeting but pointed out Premier Gladys Berejiklian and Deputy Premier John Barilaro had toured the Snowy Valleys firegrounds.
"I think that can help because it brings home the extent of the damage and devastation to the whole of the government and the whole of the cabinet," he said.
"I think that it would be a boost for the communities and an important part in restoring confidence because confidence and hope are pretty important at the movement.
"That said, the Premier and Deputy Premier and senior ministers have been involved and visited the area. I am very confident that they know what the issues are."
