The competition was initially pitched as a mixed league, but it was agreed at a meeting on Monday night two-team men's and women's divisions will be played as it looks to grow.
The concept, which is played by nine-player teams over nine-minute thirds, has been played in another associations across the state for some time, and players for each team will be drawn randomly.
Friday night will be its likely time slot, allowing players to back up in the traditional first grade competitions which will continue on Saturdays.
"It will be separate from the division one competition, which gives us a chance to highlight this fast new concept," Wagga Hockey president Ken Larkin said.
"From here we'll be forming a subcommittee to put it together. They want to expose it to our juniors and promote the concept, which I think it a good idea because it gives juniors a chance to watch some senior hockey.
"I think a lot of people will have interest in playing this concept on a Friday night, and hopefully it will bring players back to the sport that we've lost over the last few years."
Larkin said they would consider extending an invitation to Griffith and Albury to enter teams in the league.
