Heywood will take Blitzar to Sydney to contest the $75,000 Sky Racing Active Class Two Handicap (1100m).
The three-year-old has only had three race starts but Heywood has a big opinion of the Deep Field gelding.
He returned with a first-up seventh placing at Wagga on January 9 and Heywood believes the horse has taken great benefit from the run.
"Look, he's improved. He's improved off his last run, which naturally he was going to, and I think they'll know he's there. I really do," Heywood said.
"His work Tuesday morning was very nice so I'm confident that he'll run well."
Blitzar was well-supported first-up but was never on the track and tired to run seventh behind speedy Canberra filly Affinity Beyond.
He was beaten seven lengths but the run did not deter Heywood from heading to Sydney.
"No, not me anyway. Because I knew straight away that he wasn't happy," he said.
"I've always had an opinion of him and I blame myself first up. I'm going back to the drawing board a bit but this was the plan all along so I'm sticking to it."
Heywood has secured Tommy Berry to ride Blitzar on Saturday. He has 54.5 kilograms and is drawn in barrier four.
"If he drew bad, I probably wouldn't be going but drawn where we have, with Tommy on, I think he'll be thereabouts," he said.
Blitzar was set to go head-to-head with Affinity Beyond again on Saturday but the Canberra filly has been scratched due to a minor injury.
Heywood admits he is excited about testing Blitzar in stronger company at Randwick.
"Yeah I am, I'm looking forward to it, I really am," he said.
"I think he's the quality, I think he's a good horse and I think he's going places. Whether it's quite yet, we won't know that but we're going to find out."
Blitzar is on the second line of betting at $5.00 with TAB for the event. Racing NSW split Saturday's Highway into two divisions.
