The Cats have won just one of their last four matches to slip to third on the Wagga Cricket ladder.
They proved no match for ladder leaders South Wagga, with the Blues getting home with six wickets and two overs to spare.
Thompson thought they were 20 to 30 runs short of par after finishing their 40 overs at 4-193 but believes the side stacks up well against a Bulls outfit who have lost seven of their last eight matches.
"We're looking forward to the wicket as we have to bounce back from losses like that," Thompson said.
"We have to be positive.
"I feel as though we match up well with Lake Albert and hopefully we can come out strong and get them on the back foot straight away."
Thompson (66) and Jon Nicoll (52 not out) led the way last week but the Cats are looking for more contributors from across the side.
Aaron Maxwell comes back into the side for Tom Burge.
