Richards, just back from a break cut short by the NSW south coast fires, will reunite with Wayne Carroll's Set To Go Well in the 1175m maiden.
The pair combined for a third at Wagga at the end of November, and then a second at Albury in mid-December
"It's been improving and if it improves a little bit off its last start, it should be hard to beat," he said of the five-year-old mare, which has had just six starts.
Richards also had three minor placings at Albury on Boxing Day and two at Wagga on Christmas Eve.
He'll be back aboard his last winner, the Mont Waters-trained Bay Lane (1600m BM58 handicap).
The pair came with an inside run from last to first over 1400m at Albury early last month.
"He's a beautiful old horse, he went well that day. If he goes like he did then, he should be running home and be right in the finish," Richards said.
The fires near Tumbarumba saw Waters forced to evacuate his stables earlier this week.
