Fire and Rescue crews have been called to Red Hill Road in Moorong within the last hour, where it is understood a fire was burning out of control.
Crews will remain on scene to ensure embers do not reignite the blaze.
It comes after Wagga sweated under the wait of 40-degree heat and high winds on Thursday.
Weather conditions are not expected to ease until early next week, with the weekend tipped to break a long-standing heatwave record.
