Despite the calendar announcing the official start of summer on Sunday, conditions around the city on Monday morning felt more like winter.
On Sunday, the maximum temperature was just 20 degrees, well down on the long-term average maximum for December of 29.5 degrees.
Monday was off to a chilly start after an overnight low of just 5.3 degrees - a far cry from the long-term average of 13.8 - as it headed towards a predicted maximum of just 17, with windy, showery conditions continuing.
The city had recorded seven millimetres of rain by 9am on Monday.
Nigel Smedley from the Wagga office of Bureau of Meteorology said the mixed bag of lower temperatures was likely to remain for several more days, although the latest three-month prediction is still for a hotter and drier than average summer.
The hottest December day on recorded was recorded in 1953, when the mercury hit 43.2 on the 21st.
Incidentally, if you're wondering if the chilly conditions are going to hang around to give us a Wagga version of a white Christmas, we'll have to wait and see.
Mr Smedley said the bureau won't have any predictions until a week to 10 beforehand.
