Ashleigh Lloyd, 21, of Mt Austin appeared in Wagga Local Court earlier this week after pleading guilty to common assault, which carries a maximum of two years' jail in the local court.
Court documents state that about 10pm on August 8, Lloyd went to Kooringal Hotel where she pulled the victim's hair then punched her in the head multiple times.
The assault only stopped when Lloyd's ex-partner, who was with the victim in the pokies room at the time, pulled her away.
The victim did not report the incident to police as she believed Lloyd would leave her alone.
The week after the assault, Lloyd continued to harass the victim on Facebook and at work, as well as trying to find out where she lived.
The victim then called police who obtained CCTV of the assault.
When police arrested Lloyd, she said she believed the victim had been sleeping with her ex-partner, which led to the assault.
In court on Wednesday, Lloyd represented herself before magistrate Christopher Halburd.
"I don't have much to say about my actions as it's summed up in my pre-sentence report," she said.
Mr Halburd said that while jail was an appropriate sentence, he instead handed Lloyd a seven-month intensive corrections order based on her being a mother and on her already seeking help.
However, he warned that the ICO is a "jail sentence served in the community".
"This is a cowardly and unprovoked attack on someone with absolutely no reason at all," Mr Halburd said.
"Your record does not entitle you to any particular leniency."
Lloyd will carry out 50 hours of community service as part of her sentence.
