ONE of Wagga's most experienced councillors threatened to walk out of this week's meeting as two factional rivals clashed.
The councillors were forced to watch a stand-off between Mayor Greg Conkey and Councillor Paul Funnell at Monday's meeting regarding personal attacks made during the climate emergency debate in July.
A fed-up Cr Kerry Pascoe threaten to leave the chambers - and was on his way out when the argument fizzled out. As he returned to the table he muttered it was "a waste of time".
In other news:
The eight-minute standoff was initiated by Cr Conkey, who publicly shared his disappointment in what he said were Cr Funnell's personal attacks against him in the media.
Cr Conkey said comments made in media interviews by Cr Funnell claiming he did not have solar panels on his house were incorrect.
"I don't mind people criticising me for a decision I make, but it's the personal attack that I found disappointing," he said.
Cr Funnell said he asked councillors at a previous council meeting if they had solar panels and only Cr Pascoe and himself raised their hands.
He said it was on record that Cr Conkey did not have solar panels because he did not raise his hand.
The pair disagreed over whether the question had been asked.
However the video recording of the July 8 council meeting does indicate that Cr Funnell did ask councillors the question.
