The Bureau of Meterology says there is a 70 per cent chance of between five and 15 millimetres of rain on Saturday afternoon and evening, while there is a 90 per cent chance of between 15mm and 25mm on Sunday.
Nigel Smedley from the bureau's Wagga office, said that with the chance of storms, falls in some areas could be even higher.
The region has not seen much substantial rain in recent months.
On May 3, there was 36mm recorded in Wagga. There has been nothing over 15mm recorded in a single day since then.
There has been just 7.6mm of rain during all of October, well down on the long-term average of 56.8mm.
Despite the dry conditions, this October was not the driest on record in Wagga. That was in 2002, when just 0.6mm was recorded.
The wettest was in 1974, when a soggy 181.7mm was recorded
According to the latest seasonal outlook issued by the bureau, November and December are likely to be drier than average across most of Australia.
Daytime temperatures are likely to be above average across Australia for the remainder of 2019.
