Wagga Rugby League secretary Stephen Frankham revealed the current seating will extend the length of the field on the grandstand side plus seating will be added on the eastern hill.

It will ensure fixed seating will increase from 1200 to 2000.

Works are also planned to increase the size of the southern hill to increase the capacity of the ground to around 12,000 people.

The earlier date of the NRL game, to be played between Canberra and Newcastle on April 18, only adds to the pressure to deliver the latest ground advancement.

"It is going to put us under pressure but we will get there," Frankham said.

"Everything is pre-planned and the only reason it isn't a constructive zone is because of the W-League match on the weekend.

"Straight after that the boys will be back into it."

On Monday Wagga City Council approved costings for an alternative exit onto Kooringal Road, an overflow car park with a pedestrian access bridge and improvements for disability access, new carpet and a men's toilet upgrade.

Raiders chief executive Don Furner is also looking forward to having two regional clubs play in Wagga.

"Being another regional club is fantastic," Furner said.

"Newcastle, like us, are a regional club and to have two regional clubs out there will be fantastic.

"I know council are looking forward to it and have spent a lot of money on McDonald's Park.

"It will be a nicer place to come to, with more facilities for the fans so we're looking forward to it."
