Since 1983, a team of dedicated Riverina women have donated their time and enthusiasm to the Children's Medical Research Institute to raise around more than $1.6 million overall for the cause.
President of the Wagga CMRI branch, Shannon Corbett, said there were 95 stalls at this year's CMRI Christmas Fair.
"In the Champagne Bar, there is beautiful food and cakes for a treat after shopping as well," she said. "It's really about the children and giving back."
Ms Corbett said the institute focused on lowering the child morbidity rate by giving vaccinations and trying to reduce sudden infant death syndrome.
"Thanks to the committee, the stallholders and the MTC Club," she said.
Jan Lane travelled from Lockhart to show her support, meet with friends and get the shopping underway.
"I have grandchildren, so anything that can help sick children is great," she said.
Gina Roche, owner of boutique store Farmgate and Twine, said she was grateful to the CMRI for giving local businesses the chance to showcase their business, with the bonus of doing it for a great cause.
"We have a storehouse in Adelong, and we also have an online business," she said.
"We are all here to support the Wagga CMRI event, and the committee works tirelessly to put this on.
"For my store, being in Adelong, it is letting people in Wagga and surrounds know that I am there, it is a fabulous platform."
The Wagga Christmas Fair continues this Saturday, from 10am to 4pm at the Murrumbidgee Turf Club.
