New Wanderers coach Michael Babic did not take long to land a recruitment coup with the club announcing the signing of Menser on Tuesday night.
Menser is no stranger to the Canberra-based competition having played in the National Premier League (NPL) before moving to Wagga.
The 35-year-old has made a big impression during his time in Wagga, both at Lake Albert and Henwood Park, and is now looking forward to what he believes is a bright future at the Wanderers.
"I'm looking forward to it and a new challenge," Menser said.
"I wouldn't have joined if I didn't think we were going to get really good results and I'm sure I'm not the only one going around that expects the Wanderers to play finals next year.
"That's what drew me and I'm looking forward to being apart of it."
Menser coached Henwood Park in this year's Pascoe Cup competition and only earlier this month told The Daily Advertiser that he was unlikely to stay in the role due to a desire to focus more on playing.
He will be a playing assistant coach at Wanderers in a role that gives him the best of both worlds.
"It gives me still a foot in the door, with coaching, without it being my sole responsibility and will allow me to play a bit more," Menser said.
The appointment of Babic as the Wanderers' new coach played a big part in getting Menser across.
"Mick gave me a call and asked if I was interested in coming across and having a run," he said.
"I met him and he did say primarily playing but if I could help out with the coaching as well that would be great. We had a couple of chats and I agreed.
"Mick is a fantastic coach, I liked playing under him before, he's a great coach and with him we should see the Wanderers have some good results."
Menser said he would like to see more Pascoe Cup players step up and challenge themselves at NPL 2 level.
