Jackson Strong looking for bigger 2020 after double gold medal success

The Lockhart daredevil has returned home with a swag of medals from the X Games this season.

It included winning best trick in the Shanghai X Games before another gold in the same event at Norway last month.

He also picked up silver in the trick event and bronze in the freestyle at Minneapolis.

Strong has been pleased with how the season unfolded.

"It's been pretty good for me this season," Strong said.

"I feel it is never quite what you want, as the ultimate is all golds, but everyone else out there wants the same thing so it is really hard to try and stay on top."

Strong has most of his success with his no handed front flip.

Strong has now won 11 X Games medals, six of them gold, but the four-medal haul was the biggest for one year.

But for now he's focusing on completing a massive shed at the family's property.

The 35 metre wide, 120 metre long and 17 metre high structure is designed to allow him to train indoors.

"I'm moving all my jumps indoors out at the farm in Lockhart so I can have a bit more of a regular practice routine," Strong said.

"I struggle a lot with the elements trying to do what I do.

"The wind and wet weather, not that there is much wet weather around at the moment unfortunately, so for the remainder of this year and early next year I'm working on completing my big shed out here."

He hopes the project can help get an edge over his rivals.

"It's a bit excessive probably but I feel it is what I need to keep trying to stay on top of everyone else," Strong said. "Everyone is getting too good.

"I'm always looking for an edge and believe this is going to help."

His big season comes off a back on an injury plagued preparation which included a broken ankle, with had him sidelined for five months, and also fractured his back while snowmobiling in Aspen in January.

He gave Wagga doctor Adrian van der Rijt for keeping him "glued together" and on his bike.
