The 2019 Lockhart Picnic Races will be held this Friday, October 4.
Gates at the Lockhart Showground open at 12pm, with the first of six races at 1.30pm.
Off the track, there are prizes worth $1950 to be won in fashions on the field.
The Lachlan Valley Railway will run a train to and from Wagga for the races.
The train leaves Wagga at 10.45am, stopping in The Rock at 11.10am and arriving in Lockhart at 1pm.
The return train will depart Lockhart at 6pm and get back to Wagga about 8pm.
Tickets are $40 for adults and $20 for kids. Races entry is not included.
Train tickets can be purchased online at 123tix.com.au.
The races kick off two big weekends in Lockhart, with the town's Spirit of the Land Festival to be held on October 12 and 13.
Last year, the festival - set up in 2006 to get people together during the drought - attracted 6000 people.
