There was not a cloud in sight for this year's Spring Jam and face painting proved very popular, with lines of eager children waiting for their turn.
Edison McIntosh, 6, said she could not wait to join the line with her friend and get a unicorn painted on her face.
"Watching the sword fight was my favourite thing," she said.
"I haven't really been to any activities yet, I've just been waiting for one of my friends.
"We're thinking we'll walk around and see if there's anything else, but we already want to make the mud ball with seeds."
Edison said she went to Spring Jam last year and had a ball with the mud-making activities.
The free festival was held at the Botanical Gardens and doors opened at 10am and closed at 4pm.
It was the Higginson family's first time at Spring Jam and mum Rachel said her children are having a "blast".
"I've brought my little boy, four-month-old Jonah, and my three-year-old little girl Ava along with my husband and I'm here with my sister-in-law and her three little girls," Mrs Higginson said.
"There's plenty of activities for them and it's free, which is another good thing, we're having a great time.
"I think the kids want to explore more things we haven't even got around to yet."
