Coles and Woolworths nationally saw a 30 per cent growth in online sales in the past financial year.
Wagga resident Tonie Hull started ordering her groceries online after finding she was often too time poor to shop in-store.
Ms Hull started about two years ago and chooses a time to pick them up, rather than paying for a delivery service.
"Life gets busy and so late at night I push the button and pick it up the following day," she said.
"It's just the convenience of it as people get time poor because of work and things that happen outside of work, like family and also volunteering at the footy club.
"It's convenient and saves a lot of time than going in the store."
Ms Hull said being able to see how much she has spent before hitting the checkout means she can keep track of her spending and reduce the impulse buying.
"It doesn't stop me buying the Tim Tams or the chocolate, but you get the total before having to pay," she said.
Ms Hull said she "very rarely" goes in-store to shop and often buys her groceries later in the evening.
"I don't know why more people don't do it ... it can save three hours," she said.
Woolworths Wagga online manager Amanda Manning said personal shoppers take a lot of care when picking items for customers, making sure that no dud fruits are put in the mix.
"The key question we all ask ourselves as we pick fresh food for customers is, would I buy this for my own family? We'll only ever pick a product if the answer is yes," she said.

A Woolworths spokesperson said the popularity of online grocery shopping has continued to rise across the three Wagga stores.
"Whether it be a farmer coming into Wagga for a bulk pick up order or a young family getting fresh groceries delivered direct to their door, the demand for convenience is booming," the spokesperson said.
"We're seeing strong double digit growth in online orders and our team of personal shoppers and delivery drivers are working hard to provide the best possible service to local customers."
