The 20-year-old is part of the NSW development squad on the Tour of Poyang Lake this week.
The gruelling 11-stage event in China is not only the biggest Stewart has attempted, but he's also preparing for some testing conditions.
"The climate is going to be 30 plus degrees and probably be very humid so I think it is going to challenge at lot of people," Stewart said.
"I've been putting the heater on in a room and doing an hour or two hours inside."
Stewart admitted the different preparation on the stationary bike hasn't always been the best of fun.
However he's looking forward to his taste on international competition in the event for elite cyclists, believing it will be the experience of a lifetime.
"It's very exciting and this is my first race out of Australia," Stewart said.
"It is going to be very different with a lot bigger bunches and totally different racing so it will be a good experience."
While most of the competing teams are from across Asia, a number of European teams plus one from America are also taking part.
Stewart has been pleased with his form leading into his Chinese adventure with a National Road Series event Tour de Tweed last month and finished third in the NSW road race in Goulburn earlier this month.
"My form has been pretty good thanks to my coach in Albury Jesse Fetonby," he said.
"He's really been really making me excel."
