Blue Jean Baby ($71) powered to the line to take out the $30,000 Bowyerair Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Showcase 3YO Maiden (1200m) at Murrumbidgee Turf Club.
It was a big effort on debut by the daughter of Ferlax, who was purchased by Beer for $5000 from the New Zealand Ready To Run Sale.
Beer has a lot of time for the filly but admitted the win on debut caught him by surprise.
"To be honest, it did. She trialled here and had a quiet trial but I thought she was a bit disappointing," Beer said.
"So I took her to Berrigan on Saturday and she had a trial, which she won, but it's hard to get too excited about a trial at Berrigan.
"I expected her to be flying home and running an encouraging third or fourth, beaten three lengths and be ready to win at her next start so I'm going to have some excited, slash, disappointed owners."
Among the ownership is Wagga men Jordan Ryder and Paul Bittar.
Blue Jean Baby, was ridden by Troy Baker. She scored by a long head from fellow debutant Blitzar ($4.00) with the highly-spruiked favourite Dalaalaat ($1.45) a further two lengths back in third.
