With Albury stripped of last month's win over the Boiled Lollies, and the points instead heading to the Wagga side, the two teams go into the final round locked on 42 points.
City coach James Curgenven is looking to cash in on their fortune heading into a clash against Tumut at Jarrah Oval on Saturday.
"It's a second chance for us now," Curgenven said.
"I don't know all the ins and outs on what has happened with Albury but we've got to take it with open arms and try to get into the final finals spot.
"We've got a big game against Tumut and need to get the win, and hope Tahs win.
"Our main focus is to get a bonus point as well."
Curgenven has been pleased with the response to the changed situation at training this week.
He believes the team has really bought into the second lease of life.
Wagga City have been forced to make a couple of changes to the team who went down 39-29 against Waratahs last week.
Will Boneham and Rory Sheard are both unavailable while Tom Jennings is out with a foot problem.
However Eddie Lagaali and Curgenven come into the centres, Hamish Wrafter is back at fullback with Drew Martin returning to halfback.
