Parts of Kooringal, Springvale and Lake Albert have seen their National Broadband Network completion deadlines pushed back by up to two years since the internet service started rolling out in Wagga.
In April, the NBN Co gave a completion date of early 2020 for these areas to be able to access the new service.
This week, an NBN spokesperson said construction was under way to connect a remaining 7100 premises in parts of Bourkelands, Kooringal, Lake Albert, Springvale, Tatton and Tolland.
"Construction is expected to be completed early next year with residents expected to be able to make the switch to the NBN access network in between January and March 2020.
"Once these works are completed, it will mark the completion of the NBN rollout in the Riverina."
A Tatton resident, who did not want to be named, told The Daily Advertiser that while the delays had been frustrating, he now simply wanted the project to be completed and to be able to access the service.
The NBN Co has just announced that about 3900 premises in the Cootamundra areas have now been connected to the broadband network after construction works were completed in the area in June.
According to the NBN spokesperson, some of the Wagga properties still waiting for connections needed some additional preparation work.
"It's important to remember that each premises is unique, with a small number of premises that will require additional works from an engineering perspective before they will be ready to connect to the new network," the spokesperson said.
"Therefore it is not unusual for the majority of an area to become NBN ready, while works are being carried out to those remaining premises. This means access is not held back for those areas where construction is complete.
"The best thing for residents to do is to use the 'check your address' function on the NBN website to see when their individual property will be eligible to order a retail service over the NBN network. If access is not yet available, people can register their email address and we will notify them when they become NBN ready."
