Wade Ryan, who lives on Lloyd Road, said the works started on January 2 and appeared to be moving forward until a week before Easter.
Despite the reduce speed signs remaining behind with the unsurfaced road, the crews have yet to return.
The Lloyd Road road rehabilitation works remain in phase one, which involved a drainage and storm water upgrade before new pavement is placed down to finish the project.
"We emailed them [the council] a couple weeks after Easter and we got a quick response from a manager who said there were issues to sort out. About seven weeks later, we emailed again and got the same response and then again," he said.
"We are happy with short-term inconvenience, but it's dragging on. It's like we've been abandoned.
"The works are now into the seventh month and the five-month project has no end date anymore."
Lloyd Road resident Craig Keyes has also reached out to the council, but said there had been "no communication" and he had been treated with "contempt".
"We have both phoned and emailed and get different answers on different days," he said.
"The road is no good and bordering on dangerous with the size of these potholes. We just want the road finish, and most importantly know what's happening."
Wagga City Council's general manager Peter Thompson agreed the communication could have been better between the council and residents of Lloyd Road.
The roadworks came to a halt after a resident approached the council with concerns on the impact that storm water might have to their property if the council proceeded to fix the road in accordance to the original design.

The council referred the query to a specialist to confirm the impact.
"We had never dreamed that it would take this long to confirm," Mr Thompson said. "The council could have communicated better, but at least we are not proceeding work without a clear understanding of concerns that have validity."
Mr Thompson has personally met with the residents, telling them the project will move forward within a week.
