The Wanderers broke a five game losing streak with a 3-0 win over last-placed Brindabella and must back it up against the third from bottom Bulls, coming off a 9-0 loss to ANU, to keep their season alive.
Although fourth-placed Weston Molonglo have a game in hand, they face a tough draw against Canberra White Eagles (second) and ANU (third) the next fortnight, before travelling to Wagga for a potential mini final the following week.
Ploenges said they need to take care of business against the Bulls and second-last Southern Tablelands (away) the next two games before Weston Molonglo travels to Gissing Oval.
"We've just got to make sure we get six points from this week and next week's games and go from there," Ploenges said.
"Hopefully they (Weston Molonglo) can drop some points and we can edge close to the top four."
The Wanderers lost 1-0 to Narrabundah in Canberra earlier this season, but Ploenges is confident they only need to take their chances to hit back.
"It was a pretty scrappy game. We had heaps of chances and couldn't finish, they had a couple and took advantage of theirs," he said.
"We've been playing three at the back the last few weeks and it's proven to be the right formation for us.
"Our defence has improved a lot since the start of the season and the new formation is working, we just have to finish those chances we keep creating."
The Wanderers will welcome back forward Caylum Barber for Saturday's clash at Gissing Oval, which begins at 3pm.
