Racing NSW concluded an inquiry on Monday after Benjamery returned a positive to Lignocaine when winning at Albury in May.
The inquiry established that Widdup had been treating Benjamery for a rash on its neck with Illum Neocort, a product which contains Lignocaine.
Stewards considered the fact it was Widdup's first offence under the rule, his guilty plea and forthright evidence and fined him $4000.
Benjamery was also disqualified from the Class Three Handicap (1400m) at Albury on May 13, which he had won, and the placings have been amended accordingly.
The Doug Vickers-trained Liberty Boy was promoted to first place, with Mitch Beer's pair of Sherpa Trail and Anna Baabella now filling second and third placings.
