Wagga's Dakota Hair and Beauty opens for Lisa's Rainbow Day

After losing her battle with ovarian cancer about three years ago, the daughters and fellow hairdressers of Lisa Hill decided to start a Rainbow Day to raise money for cancer research.

"Mum was such a vibrant and caring woman who told us she would live on to visit us through rainbows and birds, which inspired the name and this day," Gina Hill said.

Dakota Hair and Beauty will once again open its doors for shampoos and blow drys, only asking for a donation in return.

"We had so much fun during the last two years, and have been able to raise much-needed funds for two different charities," she said.

"But this year, we thought we'd choose a local charity. Can Assist Wagga has inspired us by the dedication and assistance they provide to patients and families suffering from cancer within the the city and surrounding areas.

"It means so much to be able to keep the money local and help support families who are struggling to get assistance."

Lisa's Rainbow Day is at Wagga's Dakota Hair and Beauty salon on July 20 between 10am and 4pm.

"Cancer doesn't discriminate and so many families go through the horrible battle. Supporting these families fighting for a cure is what we need. And together we can make a difference," Ms Hill said.
