The 51-point belting was Maloney's biggest loss in nine years at the club, and hopes the team has enough self-pride to lift at Bankstown on Saturday night.
The sixth-placed Bruins (7-7) are still fighting for a Waratah League division one finals berth, but the Heat (4-10) want to be the spoilers in the last month of their campaign.
Winning back respect will be top of the agenda this week.
"It is pretty embarrassing what happened to us on the weekend, and we don't want that to happen again," Maloney said.
"In my nine years here I don't think we've ever been beaten by that much. That Canberra team is all a bunch of young kids under 21 years old, which adds a bit of salt to the wound."
The Bruins beat the Heat by five points in Wagga early in the season, and they will have to try and equal the ledger without brothers Bobby and Dom Tye.
"They beat us by a basket right at the end of the game last time, it's definitely a winnable one so we want to get one back on those guys," Maloney said.
"Bankstown are a more experienced side and will try and slow us down, we have to do what Canberra did to us and try and run them off their feet.
"I think our team's a lot better than what our record shows. It would be good to get a couple of wins and prove that."
Despite being well out of finals contention, Maloney said he hopes his teams is motivated by proving they're a better unit than they showed last week.
"We'll find out a lot about guys, we could roll over and die but hopefully that's not our attitude," Maloney said.
"It's a tough game, but one we can get and it would be a confidence boost going forward.
"The last few games we've got teams who are all fighting for finals, it would be good to get some upsets and stuff up their goals.
"We're not playing for too much other than for pride."
The match tips off at 6pm, while women's team Wagga Blaze have the weekend off.
