Dunn came off early in the second half in the win over Young on Sunday and scans haven't revealed positive news.
The lock has avoided surgery but needed to have a displaced bone, which has a small fracture, realigned.
However the Tigers aren't sure how long the lock will be unavailable for.
"It is was good result as far as the ligaments go, there was a chance that it needed to be wired up but that's apparently ok," coach Adam Perry said.
"He's in a full arm cast at the moment and needs to be go and get it check out in two weeks.
"We don't really know what the long term forecast is."
Perry admitted it was a big blow for the side, who have tasted so much success to start the season, but have picked up a number of injury concerns in the fast three weeks.
"He's one of the best defenders in the comp," Perry said.
"He'll be tough to replace but we have a pretty good side and a lot of depth.
"We are lucky in that regard but he's a good player, a good bloke to have around who trains hard and makes sure everyone is working hard as well.
"Everyone else will have to pick up a bit of slack."
Tigers captain Luke Berkrey is one option to help replace Dunn.
Berkrey has only played 15 minutes since injuring his sternum against Junee in round seven.
He missed a fortnight with the problem before re-aggravating it early in the win over Tumut three weeks ago and is closing in on another return.
Gundagai will make a call depending on how he trains.
"He might be right this week or he might not be," Perry said.
"That would be the easiest fix if he's right but if he's not I don't know at the moment."
The inclusion of Royce Tout last month has helped their depth but he was used in the front row last week to cover Dylan Murdoch (illness).
The Tigers also went into the clash against the Cherrypickers without Mathew Lyons (shoulder) and Seb Cottam (back).
The Tigers tackle Kangaroos at Equex Centre on Saturday.
The premiers have only lost the one game this season to sit on top of the ladder while the Wagga side is ninth but are just three points off fifth and are coming off their win since round two.
Gundagai scored a 38-6 win when the teams met earlier in the season.
There will be an earlier start to the clash with kick off at 2pm.
