The campaign amassed up to $60,000 within two days, with the money to go towards covering the funeral costs of 27-year-old father of three Josh Leetham.
Mr Leetham died in a head-on crash with a truck near Hay on Friday morning.
As the sole-income provider to wife Madi, and children Aleaha 7, Harrison 5, and Zander 20-months, his death has dealt a sizable blow to the same community.
"I really wanted to raise as much as we possibly can for them," said life-long friend and GoFundMe organiser Charlea Clarke.
"I didn't want people to go to the site, see we'd hit the target and think 'oh, it's over, I won't donate', so we decided to extend it."
Mrs Clarke said she had spoken to many who wanted to donate but were not in the position to do so when news of the tragedy hit over the weekend.
"A lot of local businesses are getting onto it now," she said.
"I know a few people who wanted to give something, but were waiting on paychecks."
A funeral date is yet to be established, but Mrs Clarke - who has recently moved to Queensland - hopes to deliver the finances to the family by the week's end.
"I want to be with Madi, to see her in person, just to make sure we've got everything right, all the bank accounts and that sort of thing," she said.
"We've been messaging, she's said she's so grateful for everyone's support and how much everybody has done for them but it's just so overwhelming right now.
