The Wagga side proved far too strong for winless Cootamundra, taking a 40-12 victory at Equex Centre on Saturday.
Kangaroos had put the writing on the wall after narrow losses to Albury and Young so Dumbrell was thrilled it finally came off.
"It is fantastic," Dumbrell said.
"They guys were really good and every time we made a break they were there supporting and it was good to get some points on the board."
Scoring tries hasn't been easy for the Wagga side, who had the second worst attacking record coming into the round.
They hadn't tasted success since the corresponding fixture earlier this year, but the flurry of points will be a big confidence boost.
"Our attack has been lacking a fair bit but we were able to get some points on the board and big Saul (Houma) was really good," Dumbrell said.
"He scored two really close to the line, which is his range, and it's kinda unfair as he's so big that they can't stop him.
"He was really good."
It was Houma's first game in a month while Warren Lloyd was also a strong performer in the forward pack.
Kangaroos have a much bigger test coming up against Gundagai.
They look likely to be without Lachlan Cuell, who re-injured his knee, while Fetongi Tuinauvai didn't take part in the second half.
