Kennedy will take the reins of an undermanned Demons team against Griffith due to the two-game suspension of coach Luke Gestier.
Collingullie-GP will go into the important game without Gester, full-forward Marc Geppert (hamstring), Tom Keogh (soreness) and Harry Radley (ankle).
The unavailabilities have paved the way for Joe Perryman to make his senior debut and also provided an opportunity for a number of the club's fringe players.
Kennedy, who will coach his first full game, wants the Demons to embrace the opportunity.
"I'm looking forward to it. I'm pretty keen," Kennedy said.
"Joey Perryman comes in for his debut and we've got a few other young kids coming in so it's a good opportunity for them to step up.
"I've said to the boys that we've got to go in with a positive attitude, we don't want to use (players out) as an excuse so we've got to go out there and give it a crack."
The Demons have made a number of changes to their line-up with Kennedy, Nick Perryman, Ed Perryman and Blake Harper all named up forward.
Kennedy explained it is mostly due to the absence of Geppert and Gestier, but also a bid to try something different up forward.
"It's a factor of both. We want to give some young guys some time up there and maybe go with a bit more free-flowing forward-line," he said.
"Obviously it's because Gep and Geeza are out but we definitely want to try something a bit different."
Both teams will come into the game on the back of losses, and in Griffith's case, two in a row.
Kennedy does not necessarily believe that is a good thing.
"I reckon they'll be tough and they will be just as keen as we are to get a win after two losses," he said.
"We've got to be play four quarters of footy. We haven't done that enough, put four quarters together."
