The Dragons stunned the competition with a round one win over the Bulls, and showed signs of doing it again at Harris Park.
Southcity were their own most enemies in the first half, dropping plenty of ball inside their own half and conceding a number of penalties, however they were able to turn in around in the second half to run out 42-20 winners.
Coach Kyle McCarthy thought better control helped turn things around after going into the break locked at 14-all.
"We were very ill-disciplined and very erratic with what we were doing in both attack and defence and it showed," McCarthy said.
"We were horrible.
"We started the first half four (completions) from 10 and just giving them ball at their own end.
"We were lucky they didn't apply the pressure and go for the points instead of taking the two but we were able to rest up and regroup."
The Bulls cleaned up their errors and started to get things going when Steve Tracey won the battle for a kick to score nine minutes into the second stanza.
Two minutes later Mitch Bennett went over before a lovely flick pass from Usaia O'Sullivan put Harry Lucas over with 19 to go.
It saw the Bulls go out to a 30-14 lead and despite a try to Sam Elwin with 12 to play the Bulls were able to snuff out any chance of a Dragons comeback.
Lucas crossed for his third before Hayden Jeans crashed over to seal the win and see Southcity maintain their grip on second spot.
They tackle Junee on Saturday after the Diesels ended a three-game losing streak against Cootamundra while the Dragons will be looking to keep hold of fifth place when they tackle Tumut at Nixon Park.
Southcity forward Kieran Schauf played his 250th first grade game.
However it wasn't a long stint with the front rower lasting only a couple of minutes before coming off after a head knock.
