Tigers moved to top spot on the Riverina League ladder at the halfway mark of the season with a 8.16 (64) to 6.12 (48) victory over the Swans.
Griffith were in control of the contest with a 24-point lead at half-time and kicked the first goal of the third quarter before Tigers turned it on with seven unanswered goals.
The visitors went from five goals down to 13 points ahead and then did enough to hold off the Swans in a goalless final quarter.
In fact, seven of Tigers' eight goals for the day came in the third term as they were held goalless for half of the contest.
At the same time, Griffith could only manage one goal after half-time.
Wagga Tigers coach Troy Maiden was pleased with the turnaround in the second half.
"Our third quarter was good," Maiden said.
"I thought we had enough of the ball in the first half of the game. We probably butchered it a little bit, we turned it over and we still had some scoring opportunities, we just weren't making the most of them.
"Once we steadied a little bit, took our chances, we played some good footy. I thought our second half was really good."
Ben Kelly was outstanding across half-back for Tigers. He managed to curb the influence of Jacob Conlan as well as half a bag impact with a number of strong marks.
Nick Ryan and Jesse Manton were dangerous throughout for Tigers, while Will Keogh, who kicked three goals, and Brendan Myers provided the spark for the third-quarter onslaught.
Maiden was happy to defeat Griffith but insisted the added bonus of top spot on the ladder means little.
"It's obviously no easy feat (Griffith at Griffith), whilst we were confident if we played the footy we want to play that we'd be certainly competitive, I'm pretty happy to be driving out of here with the four points, no doubt," he said
"Had we dropped today's game we're two games behind Griffith but we haven't achieved anything by being on top of the ladder at the halfway mark of the year.
"It's a really good start to the year, it's a good position to be in but it doesn't mean a whole lot at this time of year.
"It's more to know we can compete with these sides."
It was Griffith's second consecutive loss for the season, after last week's 65-point shellacking from MCUE.
It drops the Swans to second position on the ladder. Tigers, Griffith and Coolamon all sit on 28 points, with only percentage separating the trio.
Lucas Conlan was a standout for Griffith in defeat, while Will Griggs and James Toscan were also two of the Swans' better players.
