A Lotto ticket purchased during a Riverina road trip has brought home nearly $1 million for a Wagga woman.
The retiree picked up her Saturday Lotto ticket during a pit stop in Balranald, en route to her final destination.
Saturday's draw netted her a $953,391 share of the division one prize pool of more than $3.8 million, along with three other winners who picked the lucky numbers.
Sharing her excitement with a NSW Lotteries official on Monday, the woman explained the lotto pit stop is always part of her road trip ritual.
"Good grief! We're from Wagga but we've been on a road trip and every time we go through Balranald we stop and get a lotto ticket and check it on the way home," she said.
"It's the only time I ever buy a lotto ticket and I always win something!"
The winning ticket was purchased at Balranald Newsagency on Market Street.
The retiree checked her lotto ticket on her way home to discover she was the winner NSW Lotteries officials had been searching for.
"We've just driven back through Balranald and stopped to check the ticket," she said.
"I walked into the newsagency and saw they'd sold a division one winning ticket and thought to myself 'someone must be happy today'.
"Then I handed over my ticket and they said it was me!
"I am numb! I'm in shock!"
Balranald Newsagency owner Lisa Jolliffe said it's the first division one winning ticket they'd sold.
"This is definitely the talk of the Balranald community, it's creating quite a buzz and we've had plenty of people coming in to congratulate us," she said.
"We've never sold a division one winning entry here before and we're thrilled the winner has now checked their ticket."
The woman and her partner were still three hours away from home when they learned of the win but said it was "going to be a good drive home".
The winner said she'd need some time to let the life-changing news sink in and decide exactly how to spend the prize money
"I don't know what we'll do," she said.
"My partner and I are both retired and we will probably just have a good think about what we'll do with the prize.
"It's definitely come at a good time. It's amazing. We won't have to worry about anything anymore. It's just lovely!"
