The Bulls fullback, who was the top tryscorer last season, led Gundagai counterpart Mathew Lyons by three heading into the 28-12 win at Equex Centre.
He was pleased to add more to his tally, which stands at 17, and his team's.
"It was good to get a couple more and be in the right spot at the right time," Dooley said.
Southcity scored 22 unanswered points in the first half to take a special win in the Noel Murray Memorial clash.
Dooley thought it set up their performance.
"We played well in the first half, the second half not too much, but we did all the right things," he said. "We scored on the first set, which set our game up and we completed pretty well in the first half.
"The second half was a bit tough, they came out and played a lot better."
It's sets up a mouthwatering grand final rematch with Gundagai, the two form sides of the competition.
Dooley is hoping to get one back on the Tigers.
"It's going to be extremely tough and they are obviously the team to beat this year," he said.
"They are the premiers so we will have to be at our best to even go close.
"Hopefully we can turn up and put a good performance in."
Kangaroos outscored the Bulls 12-6 in the second half which will give them some confident heading into another tough clash with Tumut.
