Mount Austin High School Year 9 student Maddison Griffiths has been awarded a $20,000 four-year Harding Miller Education Foundation academic scholarship at the annual Public Education Foundation's awards night in Sydney.
Hundreds of high school students applied for the scholarships and Maddison was selected as one of the 85 winners for 2019.
"I hope to further my education and improve my knowledge in all areas and go to Year 12 and complete the HSC," Maddison said.
"My wish is to study medicine and cardiology at a great University. I hope to gain knowledge to help save people in the future."
Scholarship recipients receive new laptops, high speed internet, face-to-face and online tutoring, subject and career guidance, mentoring and financial support to help cover the costs of uniforms, books and school expenses.
