The Bulls ran in seven tries to two as they laid out their premiership credentials once more with a 36-10 win.
Nathan Rose led the way in a masterful first half display before being cut down minutes out from the break with a hamstring complaint.
The Bulls five-eighth looks certain to miss their next clash with Young, but is hoping not to be sidelined for too long after injuring himself setting up another long range Bulls try.
He scored twice in the first half to get the Bulls on top and set up Jake Dooley, who scored four, for another before going down.
Despite putting on plenty of points, Southcity captain-coach Kyle McCarthy was more impressed with the side's defence.
The big Thunder pack challenged them early and the Bulls leader didn't think the scoreline reflected how hard the game was.
"It was a tough grind and everyone was out on their feet but I think it was just the attitude and the scramble defence that we put in," McCarthy said.
"The effort across the board helped us and it sort of broke them late in the first half and then late in the second half when we got some points."
Dooley opened the scoring after five minutes but it wasn't until the last five minutes of the half that the score started to blow out when Rose scored himself and then set up Dooley's second for a 22-0 lead.
Seven minutes into the second half the Bulls fullback had his hat-trick after a break down the sideline.
Albury got one back through Curtly Jenkinson but Southcity still dominated the season half.
Southcity have now won four on the trot to sit just below Gundagai on the Group Nine ladder.
Coming off a tight win over Tumut, McCarthy is pleased with where his team are at.
"Two solid weeks in a row is a good way to build," he said. "We've got a tough road trip to Young and we're on the right path so hopefully we can continue."
It's back to the drawing board for Adrian Purtell and the Thunder ahead of another big clash with Tumut next Sunday.
He admitted it was a good reality check for the side and while disappointed the Thunder captain-coach is far from panicked by the result.
"They were just the better team today," Purtell said.
"We've got a lot to work on but it is only round five so there is nothing drastic for us.
"We just have to train well this week, fix a few things up and we're looking forward to playing at home again next week."
