Wagga City Council issued the warning in December last year, where it has remained in place for the past five months.
The council lifted the alert on Thursday after a recent rainfall and cooler overnight temperatures have caused the algal blooms to reduce, making it safe for recreational use.
However, Wagga Boat Club commodore Mick Henderson said the news has come too late for the club, which earns most of their money during the hotter weather.
The boat club has been hit with back-to-back summers of blue-green algae warnings for Lake Albert.
"The warning has been in place during our busiest trading time, so we are going into winter with no back-up to ensure we are financially stable for the colder months," Mr Henderson said.
"Summer is our prime time and we haven't been able to going into our quiet periods with financial security for the past two years."
The boat club has also been hit by the lake's low water levels.
Mr Henderson said two races were cancelled since January and the Barry Carne ski race that was originally set for this weekend has been postponed.
"The council has put in solar sonars, which has helped reduce the algae, but due to the water level it's still unusable," he said.
Mr Henderson said the club has organised a public meeting to discuss options for the lake with council representatives and Member for Wagga Dr Joe McGirr.
He encouraged the community to come voice their support on Saturday at Bossley Park from 1.30pm.
