Two men in a vehicle were stopped on Brindabella Road, Argalong, and were found to have two prohibited electric shock collars and unlicensed ammunition.
"They claimed to be in the area to camp, but a search of the vehicle located GPS tracking collars, one of which was charging in the vehicle; two prohibited electric shock collars, knives and a GPS monitoring unit; and, ammunition which they were unlicensed to possess," the statement said.
"Out of interest, they did not have any camping equipment in the vehicle."
The operation was conducted last week, from May 2 to May 5.
Police were assisted by NSW National Parks, Wildlife Service Rangers and NSW Department of Primary Industries hunting officers covering the areas between Tumorrama to Geehi, focusing in the park and state forest areas.
Police said in a statement that they were encouraged to find many law-abiding hunters, while others were found to be in unauthorised possession of ammunition, fireworks and hunting knives in the national parks.
"It was very pleasing to see hunters doing the right things and the Rural Crime Prevention Team commends those hunters for their cooperation and having the required licences and equipment in check, it was greatly appreciated," the statement said.
Police advised hunters to call Crime Stoppers, on 1800 333 000, if they come into contact with poachers and hunters who are not following the rules.
