Hancock went down early in the first quarter against Charles Sturt University and was unable to return to the field in the two-point win. He's yet to have an MRI but is bracing for a month on the sidelines.
"I'm just limping around. I thought I hyper-extended it but I went to the doctor and they reckon it's ligament and meniscus damage," Hancock said.
"I think it'll be four weeks (out) but we've got two byes coming up so that's good. But I don't know for sure until I get an MRI. It's feeling heaps better now than it was on Sunday and Monday."
Hancock has made a promising start with the Saints, who have already lost forward Nathan Dennis for the season after he torn an anterior cruciate ligament in round one, while Corey Watt has missed their last two games with a hamstring after going down early in round two against Marrar.
North Wagga are at home to The Rock-Yerong Creek on Saturday and will be aiming to extend the Magpies' winless start to the season to five games.
The Saints have had wins against Barellan, the Bombers and CSU, with their only blemish in the first month a last-minute loss East Wagga-Kooringal two weeks ago.
Hancock's kicked seven goals in four games but has looked a handful for opponents at times and also pinch-hit in the ruck against EWK when the Saints were without Blake Thompson.
