The money has come from the Wagga Base Hospital Auxiliary, which has donated more than $1.5 million to the hospital in the past decade.
The auxiliary raises the money through a charity shop in Fitzmaurice Street, where shoppers can currently find everything from a "Darwin stubby" to pairs of crutches.
Every year, the hospital gives the auxiliary a "wish list" of items.
This year, that list included:
- Two electronic reclining commode chairs which allow patients with higher care needs to be showered in comfort
- MRI-compatible medication infusion system
- Monitor stand and video
- Five electronic beds
- Three patient transfer devices which allow patients with restricted mobility to be easily transferred in and out of bed, and
- patient lifter
Wagga Health Service director Helen Cooper said the hospital and staff were extremely grateful to the auxiliary members for their ongoing efforts to improve patient care.
With your dedication and generosity, we are able to continually improve patient experiences and outcomes, she told them.
