THE LEGACY of a Wagga woman tragically killed in a car crash will be strengthened even more at an upcoming fundraiser to raise the profile of a scholarship under her name.

On Saturday, April 27 at Bunnings Wagga, organisers of the monthly Riverina Modified Car Meet will raise funds for the Sarah Lloyd Scholarship Fund, a charity established to provide financial help for females in non-traditional trades.
The fund was founded in Miss Lloyd's honour after she was involved in an accident in August, 2017 that tragically ended her life at 19 years old.
Melinda Mack, a family friend, decided to focus on creating something positive out of the tragedy.
After suggesting her idea to a small group of people, the Sarah Lloyd Scholarship Fund was formed.
Daniel Lloyd, father of Miss Lloyd, said the fundraiser was "a fairly fitting one because Sarah was an apprentice mechanic".
"She worked with some of the people involved with this and that's why they decided to do this fundraiser," Mr Lloyd said.
"The biggest thing for us is getting the charity more well known.
"If there's a bit of fundraising, that's a bonus because it means we can give away more scholarships each year."
Miss Lloyd was also a long-time member of the Riverina Lions.
The car meet will be a gold-coin donation fundraiser at 7pm and Bunnings will be closed for the event.
In 2018, painting apprentice Bridget Baldwin was the recipient of the first scholarship, worth $2000.
This year, there will be more than one scholarship.
"Our fundraising committee has done an amazing job," Mr Lloyd said.
Applications will open on May 1.
